benefits

Ylang ylang is a yellow, star-shaped flower that grows on the Cananga tree (Cananga odorata) that has a potent, aromatic fruity, flowery, and rich fragrance. Incorporated as the top note in the iconic Chanel No. 5 perfume, Ylang Ylang is great for boosting your mood, reducing depression and anxiety, lowering blood pressure, repelling bugs and helping soothe parched skin. It is also known to be an aphrodisiac!

How to Use

Add it to your DIY perfume or some to your hair oil. Or add it to lotions, face creams and aromatherapy recipes. This is my favourite: 1 drop of Malagasy ylang ylang oil 3 drops of Somali frankincense oil 4 drops of sweet orange oil

Sourced from

We extract this gorgeous oil by steam distillation of Ylang Ylang flowers from a tiny island called Nosy Be, in northern Madagascar. The plant has coffee-like leaves and is smooth to touch! Special care is taken of the flowers - which are plucked by hand in the wee hours of the morning.

Caution

Never use any essential oil directly on your skin. Always dilute. Malagasy Ylang Ylang oil should be diluted with 1 drop of Malagasy Ylang Ylang oil in a 10ml bottle, 8-12 drops in a 30 ml bottle. If ingesting, the ratio should be 1 drop of Malagasy Ylang Ylang oil to about 100ml (3.5 oz) of liquid. You can add it to your tea for a calming brew. Best carrier oil pairing: Malagasy Ylang Ylang oil blends well with avocado oil, grapeseed oil, and olive oil. It also goes well with other carrier oils such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil.
